Paint Enhancement FAQs
Why do i need a paint enhancement? Doesn’t waxing my car do the same thing?
Over time your vehicle’s paint gets imperfections like swirls and scratches in the clear coat. A wax can temporarily fill those gaps in the clear coat to make it seem like swirls or scratches are gone.
A paint enhancement levels out your vehicle’s clear coat making it an even surface permanently removing swirls and light scratches. Each vehicle has a different clear coat hardness, scratches and swirls, and color which may vary the results that are possible.
What is a clay bar decontamination?
Over time contaminants build up in your vehicle’s clear coat that make it a rough surface even after washing it. If left unchecked for long periods of time, these contaminants can break down your clear coat and cause fading or worse. A clay bar is a light abrasive that removes these contaminants making your vehicle’s surface smooth again. A smooth surface means light will reflect better on your vehicle meaning shinier car. A protective coating application such as a paint sealant, wax, or ceramic coating is recommended after a clay bar to protect the exposed clear coat.
Think of it as going in to get your teeth cleaned at the dentist. You can brush your teeth(wash your car) on a regular basis, but a professional cleaning 1-2 times a year will ensure your teeth(vehicle paint) stay in good shape.
What does “machine-applied” mean when applying the paint sealant?
We use the same polisher used for paint enhancements and paint corrections to evenly apply your paint sealant. Using this method with the proper pad ensures an even coat of sealant on your vehicle as well as a light polishing effect.
Do you need access to power and water?
Yes. An electrical outlet and water spigot are required to complete most of our services. This ensures we can use our best equipment to give the most efficient and effective detail possible. We may be able to do some services without one or the other. Inquire further to get your vehicle needs covered.
How long will the Paint Enhancement service take?
The Exterior Protection service can take anywhere between 3-6 hours depending on size and condition of the vehicle as well as if there are 1 or 2 detailers on the job. Reach out to us before the detail and let us know if you’re on a tight schedule.
How long will the Paint protection last from my Paint Enhancement detail?
The paint sealant protection from the Paint Enhancement service can last anywhere between 4-8 months. It depends on where you store your vehicle, weather conditions, how often you wash your vehicle, if it’s your daily driver, and if harsh chemicals are used to wash the vehicle.
Do You Have Travel Fees And/Or Service Minimums?
We do not have travel fees, but we do have a general service minimum based on distance. General rule of thumb is if it’s a 30 minute drive for us then the service needs to be at least $300. If the service is 60 minutes away, the service needs to be at least $600 etc. This can be measured from our starting locations in Redondo Beach and Torrance.
